Spokane Valley is nestled in arguably the best recreational region
in the nation.
Whether your passion is hiking pristine trails
or swishing down the slopes, going for par or screaming in the
stands, Spokane offers ample recreational opportunities for you.
All year long, outdoor enthusiasts have endless opportunities to cleave
to nature in Spokane. The area features 1,625 maintained trails, four
major rivers, 76 lakes, 13 ski areas, and 75 parks. Mountain biking,
boating, swimming, rock climbing, fishing, hiking, backpacking, horseback
riding, skiing, snowboarding, and sledding are all less than 40 minutes
from your front door.
The area is also ideal for sports fans. Spokane's 32 prime golf courses
earned it the title of "golf capital of the Pacific Northwest" by Golf
Digest; the region also hosts an array of college and professional
sports, including baseball, hockey, arena football, and the Gonzaga
University Bulldogs basketball team--three-time NCAA Sweet Sixteen competitors!
Spokane annually hosts Hoopfest, the world's largest three-on-three
basketball tournament, and Bloomsday, the world's largest timed walk-run.
In 2007, the city will host the State Farm U.S. Figure Skating Championships.
